Copyable creative brief
An authored planning example. Replace illustrative details with your approved product facts and assets.
Plan a 30-second illustrative recovery demo from actual form evidence. In the fictional sample form, the quantity field accepts a positive whole number. Enter “0” only if the supplied product’s observed rule rejects it. Trigger validation using the real action, such as Submit or leaving the field. Hold the exact observed message; for this planning example it is “Enter a quantity greater than zero.” Keep the field label and invalid value visible together. Replace 0 with 3, repeat the actual submission action and inspect the created sample record showing quantity 3. Use “Correct the quantity” before retry and “Submission confirmed” only after the supplied success state. Do not manufacture a product rule or message. If the actual rule differs, replace all linked values and copy consistently.
Make it your own
- Invalid value
- Choose a harmless value rejected by the observed rule.
- Error message
- Use exact product wording.
- Corrected value
- Show the same value in the saved result.
Gather validation evidence
Capture when feedback appears, whether focus moves and which values remain in the form. Those details affect the recovery lesson. An error that appears on submit should not be animated as if it validates during typing.
Adapt the field
Use an email, date or required selection instead only with its real validation rule. Keep one error in the main sequence. Multiple unrelated errors divide attention and obscure which correction caused the successful retry.
Fix incomplete recovery
If the error disappears but no save occurs, add the actual commitment and confirmation. If changing the field clears other inputs in the product, show that behavior or explain it; do not preserve invented values for visual convenience.
Review checklist
- Error cause and message are readable together.
- The correction addresses that cause.
- Success means confirmed submission, not merely cleared error styling.
