Who this is for: Teams demonstrating document comparison interfaces.
What to prepare
- Two matching version excerpts
- Comparison behavior evidence
- Exact annotation wording
Copyable creative brief
An authored planning example. Replace illustrative details with your approved product facts and assets.
Create a 30-second illustrative comparison for sample document D-031. Use supplied version views labeled Earlier and Revised, or the product’s actual version names. Align the same heading and paragraph in both panes. Earlier text: “Send the sample for review.” Revised text: “Send the sample to Example reviewer by Friday.” Highlight only the added destination and deadline using the actual comparison behavior. If the highlights are production annotations, style and label them accordingly. Hold both passages before moving to any detail. End with “The revised instruction names who and when.” Do not imply the revision was approved, saved or legally accepted unless those actions are separately evidenced. Avoid scrolling both entire documents or inventing an automated comparison capability.
Make it your own
- Version labels
- Use actual or clearly illustrative version identities.
- Passage pair
- Align exact before-and-after text.
- Change type
- Distinguish insertion, deletion and replacement.
Align the passages
Supply both exact versions and matching headings. Keep enough surrounding text to establish that the highlighted lines occupy the same place. Misaligned paragraphs can make a simple insertion look like a wholesale replacement.
Adapt the change
For a deletion, retain the earlier wording and label its removal. For a reordered section, use a different explanation rather than forcing an insertion treatment. Choose a passage short enough to read in both panes.
Fix highlight ambiguity
If color is the only indication of change, add concise text labels such as “Added deadline.” If the product does not support side-by-side comparison, frame the layout as an editorial comparison of supplied screenshots, not native behavior.
Review checklist
- The passages are aligned.
- The change is explained in words as well as emphasis.
- Comparison is not mislabeled as approval.
