Who this is for: Motion producers planning timed educational and brand studies.
What to prepare
- One six-second visual specimen
- Approved effect and music assets
- Matched playback and comparison conditions
Copyable creative brief
An authored planning example. Replace illustrative details with your approved product facts and assets.
Repeat an illustrative shape-reveal-and-settle specimen four times. Change only the audio treatment and label each pass. These are planned comparisons, not reports of a finished mix. Keep the review focused on purpose, intelligibility and distraction rather than which pass is simply loudest.
Scene-by-scene storyboard
24-second planning sequence · illustrative copy and visual direction
- 01
0–6s
Visuals only
Play the complete shape reveal and settle with a fixed comparison label.
On screen:Pass 1: visuals only
Sound direction: Silence.
- 02
6–12s
Effects only
Replay identical imagery with the effect aligned to the same reveal event.
On screen:Pass 2: one event cue
Sound direction: One approved cue at the specimen's marked event; otherwise silence.
- 03
12–18s
Music only
Replay identical imagery with the same visual pacing.
On screen:Pass 3: music bed
Sound direction: Approved music excerpt with no effect.
- 04
18–24s
Combined treatment
Replay identical imagery with both layers and the same inspection interval.
On screen:Pass 4: music plus event cue
Sound direction: Combine the approved layers without adding a new cue.
Make it your own
- VISUAL_SPECIMEN
- Use the same six-second imagery in every pass.
- EFFECT_ROLE
- State which visible event the effect emphasizes.
- MUSIC_ROLE
- State what continuity or tone the music should provide.
Keep the comparison controlled
Use the same source imagery, scale and event timing for all passes. Label the audio treatment without implying a preferred winner. If narration belongs in the real project, run another comparison with the actual voice because this simple specimen cannot establish speech intelligibility.
Retiming and fair excerpts
Twenty-four seconds is a planning duration. For a 30-second Animro plan, use four 7.5-second passes at 0–7.5, 7.5–15, 15–22.5 and 22.5–30, with the same extended visual hold in each. Do not give the combined pass a more exciting animation or a longer climax.
Use a subtraction decision
Ask what the effect adds, whether the music competes with the visual beat and whether the combined version duplicates emphasis. Record a reason for retaining or removing each layer. Review the actual encoded audio for seams between excerpts and check destination-specific measurements separately; no universal loudness target is assumed here.
Review checklist
- Every pass uses identical imagery and timing.
- Audio treatments are clearly labeled.
- Each retained layer has a stated purpose.
- Comparison conclusions do not substitute for final mix verification.
