Who this is for: Motion producers writing precise creative and educational briefs.
What to prepare
- Approved start, neutral and end palette pairs
- Text that belongs before and after the change
- Actual composite contrast checks
Copyable creative brief
An authored planning example. Replace illustrative details with your approved product facts and assets.
Plan a 15-second palette handoff from PALETTE_A to PALETTE_B through NEUTRAL_PAIR. Treat the change as a narrative boundary identified by THOUGHT_A and THOUGHT_B. Complete the first statement's reading hold before changing its composition. Do not rapidly alternate full-screen colors or use a bright flash to hide the handoff. Hold the neutral background deliberately, with either no text or text on the approved neutral foreground pair. Then establish the second palette and reveal the second complete statement. If any text remains visible through the change, protect it with a tested panel or inspect its actual foreground/background pair across the transition. Readable endpoints alone are insufficient. Keep the transition restrained and give both palettes a stable view. Record representative frame checks and any interval requiring closer inspection. Do not declare accessibility compliance from this single treatment. If the neutral pair conflicts with brand rules, propose a cut between stable approved compositions and request a visual decision rather than inventing a new identity color.
Make it your own
- PALETTE_A and PALETTE_B
- Supply approved text/background combinations, not only accent swatches.
- NEUTRAL_PAIR
- Provide the approved intermediate surface and any text color.
- THOUGHT_A and THOUGHT_B
- State the complete messages before and after the boundary.
- PERSISTENT_TEXT
- List any text that must remain visible through the handoff.
Use the boundary intentionally
An illustrative lesson moves from “Observe the whole” to “Inspect one detail.” The first sentence finishes, a calm neutral composition holds, then the second palette establishes the detail view. The pause introduces a new thought rather than functioning as an unexplained color flourish.
Adapt continuous copy
If a necessary source note persists, keep it on an opaque inspected panel while the surrounding palette changes. W3C's contrast guidance covers text and images of text with defined exceptions; evaluate the actual presentation and playback size rather than relying on export dimensions alone.
Correct a weak midpoint
If text disappears during a crossfade, separate the text and background changes or use a stable panel. If the neutral interval feels like a flash, lengthen the deliberate hold and reduce the brightness jump. Recheck the composite after any background or opacity change.
Review checklist
- The palette change has a narrative purpose.
- Persistent text retains an inspected background pair.
- The neutral state is deliberate rather than a flash.
- Intermediate composite frames are reviewed.
